Pitkerro Care Centre is a purpose-built residential care home on Pitkerro Road in Dundee, a short distance from the picturesque town centre.

Our Ethos

We are committed to providing a caring environment that promotes every person’s independence, privacy, dignity, freedom of choice, rights, and personal fulfilment.

Our staff will work closely with you to develop a personal care plan that outlines the personal needs and preferences of every resident.

Our staff are on hand 24 hours a day and have strong experience to draw on. Pitkerro also prides itself in providing on-going training for all staff, to keep up to date with new care methods and innovations.

If you or your loved one comes to live here with us at Pitkerro, you and your family will always receive a quality service from everyone that works within the home.

We actively encourage family, friends, and contacts to support and visit on a regular basis.

About the Property

Our home has 70 beds over two floors comprising residential, respite, nursing and dementia care.

The building and gardens are easily accessible in all areas, allowing plenty of options for residents to find company or a quiet corner depending on their wishes.

We all welcome you, your family and friends to the care centre and we hope that you settle well into your new home.

I am a registered general nurse and throughout my career I have been fortunate to care for some wonderful people both in the hospital setting and the private sector. I have progressed professionally throughout my career and have vast experience as a home manager. My focus is on delivering high standards of care for all, and to create a warm homely and inviting environment.

Over the weekend There’s no stopping us over the weekend at Pitkerro. We’ve celebrated Father’s Day with a pint (or two) whilst watching the football, been involved in lots of sporting activities and some of our ladies had pamper sessions.

Bird boxing!! Fred, our resident at Pitkerro and Chaz, our maintenance man, went around our ground floor today adding window bird feeds to the unit windows, looking forward to see what kind of birdies we get
We’ve been to Iceland Well the supermarket over the road, not the country!! Our residents at Pitkerro, wanted to stretch their legs this morning and get a bit of retail therapy, so we had a trip to Iceland, to see what we could see.
Candy floss It’s not everyday that you get to spin your own sugar into candy floss. However, our residents at Pitkerro have been doing just that. Fantastic
Raising money for Dementia UK Our resident at Pitkerro Care Centre, Maggie, was super thrilled with her relative walking 38 miles for Dementia UK and raising £856 Super job and very well done for a very great cause 👏
Over the weekend We don’t stop at Pitkerro Care Centre, just because it’s a weekend. Every day we ensure that our residents wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do. We especially love the sunny weather cure in Dundee, so we get outside as much as possible.
Out and about in Dundee Yesterday we met up with the Dundee Dragons Wheelchair Sports Club again, to give a couple more residents, Rab and Helen, a ride on the fantastic bikes. As always they loved it. Many thanks from us at Pitkerro Care Centre
#nationalyoyoday Yesterday was National Yo-yo day and like most things we love to celebrate nearly everything at Pitkerro Care Centre. Our residents loved playing, like they did in younger years, with the yo-yos. 🪀
Tai Chi This morning at Pitkerro Care Centre, we turned our hand to the old Chinese art of Tai Chi. Not only does the movements get your blood pumping, it’s also great for the mind and soul. Want to join us for a session?

Church service We’ve been joined this afternoon by Fintry Parish Church at Pitkerro Care Centre. They held a service at the home for residents to join, if they wished
Pairing plates A game to get the memory working at Pitkerro this afternoon. Residents took turn in choosing a couple of plates and had to remember what numbers were underneath
Can’t stop the beat!! Our residents at Pitkerro love a great workout and this morning we’ve been making sure that the beat doesn’t stop with some fantastic drumming. A great physical workout and keeping the beat works wonders for our residents and the best thing about it is that they have loads of fun 🥁
Re-potting the plants Our residents at Pitkerro love a bit of gardening, it's what everyone is used to doing. So, when it was time to re-pot some of the plants for summer blooms, our residents got stuck in. Cannot wait to see them grow 🌷🪻🌹🪷🌺🌸🌼🌻
Making candy floss We try and give our residents at Pitkerro Care Centre, new ideas and creativity to do things that they might not have previously done. This morning was no exception, as we (tried) to make candy floss. As you can see, some were better at it than others
Dundee Bairns 👶 We had our first baby session this morning at Pitkerro Care Centre with the Dundee Bairns. It was wonderful to see how magical a baby snuggle truly is, our youngest baby visitor was a sparkly 6 weeks old 🥰 such a special morning 👶🏼 We cannot wait until our next snuggles
Over the weekend Our residents have had a blast this past weekend at Pitkerro Care Centre. As the weather has been kind ☀️ we spent a great deal of it outside. As well as keeping fit with a bit of walking 🚶 and boxing 🥊
Out and about in Dundee. Our residents, once again, had a wonderful time with Dundee Dragons Wheelchair Sports Club. Getting out in the fresh air, riding those bikes and generally having so much fun. We love it 🥰

#NationalTiaraDay The early bird catches the worm, so the saying goes and this morning our residents were getting themselves ready for National Tiara Day 👑 Lots of fun arts and crafts and smiling faces from everyone
#WorldTurtleDay We’ve had loads of fun this afternoon at Pitkerro Care Centre. We’ve been celebrating World Turtle Day 🐢. Loads of fun dressing up and dancing to the disco 🪩

Face masks with a difference!! Well our pamper morning was a little different at Pitkerro. We all had a facial together and sang some songs 🎶. We’re glad that the postie didn’t turn up when we were all sat in reception like this!!
She’s got the skills Our resident, Margaret, just loves gardening and flowers. So, today she put us all to work at Pitkerro ensuring the entrance to the home looks fantastic 🌺

Fun, laughter and keeping fit We love to come up with different ways that our residents can keep themselves moving at Pitkerro. This morning was no different, with hula hoops and throwing balls, all residents had a great time
Happy birthday Colin. Colin celebrated his 86th birthday with all our residents yesterday at Pitkerro Care Centre. His two daughters, Lynda and Fiona also came in to join in the celebrations. By the look on his face he definitely enjoyed his day. Happy cake day Colin 🎂🎁🎉
Skittering fun!! Game of skittles anyone? Here at Pitkerro we’ve been inside and outside having a blast at some skittles. It’s really been great fun
Chair-robics This morning at Pitkerro Care Centre, it was all about improving our fitness and getting the blood pumping. Chair-robics was in full session and our residents had a great time
Trip out to Iceland Our residents were feeling the heat in this fantastic weather at Pitkerro, so we had a trip over to Iceland (the supermarket, not the country) to fetch some ice creams for everyone. 🍦
#NationalBarbecueDay What a scorcher to celebrate National Barbecue Day 🍖 Staff and residents mopped up the sunshine ☀️ with some great burgers, hotdogs and fries. Outside in the garden with friends. We’re loving it!! 🥰 🍔 🌭 🍟 🥤
Eyes down for Bingo. We've been playing one of our favourites this morning at Pitkerro Care Centre. Yes, Bingo was in the house and we had joint winners this week, Rab and Sylvia. However neither wanted to pose for a photo with the winnings!!!
Outdoors and bubble fun! It’s still blue skies above here in Dundee, so our residents here at Pitkerro caught some more sunshine and had a bit of bubble fun.
Hudson Breakfast Like every month, we celebrated our heritage with a Canadian inspired breakfast. As you can see here at Pitkerro Care Centre, all our residents enjoyed it. We also have a competition who this month was won by Holly in Claverhouse getting her prize from Jennifer 🏆
Dancing at the disco 🪩 It’s a favourite of ours at Pitkerro Care Centre. We just love getting up and having a boogie 🕺 💃 Not only is it great for the body, it’s also wonderful for brining back memories
#NationalDanceLikeAChickenDay We do not do things by half’s at Pitkerro Care Centre. Today with the help of our little friend from Butterflies Nursery Schools we celebrated National Dance Like A Chicken Day. (Yes, read that again!!). We had so much fun putting feathers on the chickens, bubble chasing, birdie dancing and duck splatting. Thank you for coming to see us 👋 Happy National Dance Like A Chicken Day everyone

Road trip with the Pitkerro Party Poppers Yesterday we visited one of our Hudson Healthcare homes, when we took a drive to Hamilton and to Lornebank Care Centre. We had a fabulous time. Lots of friends were made and lots of fun and laughing. We cannot wait to see you again 👋

Over the weekend. We had a wonderful time over the Bank Holiday weekend at Pitkerro Care Centre. The weather was out, so we were out as well, in the garden. We had a competition of swing ball and we celebrated Brenda's birthday in style.

Armchair exercises We love keeping fit and active at Pitkerro Care Centre. Today however, was a less strenuous activity in the comfort of our chairs - still loads of fun though
Just an average day!!! Loads of activities taking place at Pitkerro Care Centre today. If you like 10 pin bowling, some tennis (swing ball) and your nails painted, it would have been your favourite day ever 🤣

Karaoke time 🎤 We all had a great sing a long to some all time classics at Pitkerro care Centre yesterday. All the residents and staff were very happy and enjoyed the singing.
Eyes down It’s a Bingo morning session at Pitkerro Care Centre. Lots of residents came and joined in the fun.
Volleyball It was the ladies and gents on Wallace this afternoon to try out for the volleyball team at Pitkerro Care Centre. Lots of fun, laughs and keeping fit taking place. Think we might have a team to challenge others soon
Out and about around Dundee Coats on, blankets at the ready, it’s time for a wander over to Finlathen Park. Keeping our residents healthy and active is something that we always strive to do. A walk in the great outdoors is wonderful for all. If you see us on our travels, make sure you give us a wave 👋

Wrap up warm, it’s going to be cold!!! We’ve been out and about around Dundee again this morning, this time we’ve been Ice skating ⛸️ at Dundee Ice Arena. Dora, Kathleen and Brenda had an amazing time, Brenda said “It was wonderful and she will be back next week.”
Volleyball in a care home!!! Nothing can’t be done at Pitkerro Care Centre. When our residents challenge us to come up with new ways to keep them active, we always try to deliver (something different). So, today we had a fantastic game of volleyball. What shall we play next?
Can you keep the beat? For this weeks ‘Pit-Fit’, we had a drumming session at Pitkerro Care Centre. All residents we’re keeping up with the beat 🎶 We love thinking of different ways to keep our residents active and happy (We really enjoy these sessions too)

Out and about in Dundee Many thanks to Dundee Dragons Wheelchair Sports Club from everyone at Pitkerro Care Centre for taking Isobel on the new wheelchair trike. As you can see from our photos, she had a fantastic time and cannot wait for the next adventure. Also what a beautiful day it was in Dundee ☀️
It’s Picnic Time The children from Butterflies Nursery Schools came over to Pitkerro Care Centre for some story telling and a wonderful picnic with our residents. They were that well behaved that we allowed them the special treat of playing football darts!!! 🎯 Our residents, staff and all the children had a great time with plenty of fun and laughter
Music for the soul Music really moves (excuse the pun) our residents at Pitkerro Care Centre. We were joined this afternoon by Fintry Guitar Group this afternoon for a play and sing a long. 🎸🎶
Over the weekend! Been a couple of busy days over the weekend at Pitkerro Care Centre. A lot of our residents have enjoyed painting and we’ve been having some one-to-one sessions with Kathleen having her pamper session and getting her nails painted. And Harry doing his chair exercises in his room. We’ve loved every minute
Nails done - check!! There’s nothing like a bit of pampering every now and then at Pitkerro Care Centre. This morning Joyce wanted her nails painting, so we made sure she was given the full treatment. Another happy resident. What’s your favourite pamper session?
Getting some exercise It’s been ballooning fantastic this morning at Pitkerro Care Centre. Keeping active and great hand / eye coordination for our residents with Balloon Exercises. 🎈 🎈🎈
Basketball training Well it’s time to get for with our basketball training this afternoon at Pitkerro Care Centre. We believe that keeping fit is high on the agenda for all our residents. Think we’re good enough to challenge any local team. Buckets a plenty 🏀
Team PitFit At Pitkerro Care Centre, we like to ensure that our residents enjoy themselves and that we provide a variety of activities to stimulate to mind, body and soul. This afternoon our residents have been keeping fit to disco music 🎵 🎶 As you can see our residents love it 🥰
Pasta making. This morning we held a pasta making master class with our staff member Franco at Pitkerro Care Centre. We made beetroot tagliatelle, spinach tagliatelle and plain tagliatelle, this will be used with our home made bolognese at tea time today 🍝 Delizioso

Today we held a PitFit class and included some ball exercises, great for our hand eye coordination.
