Meet the Manager

Having 14 years of experience in the health/social care sector provides me with the necessary grounding and knowledge to embark on this exciting journey at Harbour Residential. I have been a qualified nurse since 2007, completing my training at the University of the West of England.

I have held various roles in the NHS at both the Bristol General Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary, including as Senior Staff Nurse and Clinical Site Manager. After 10 years at the NHS, I then transitioned into the care home industry, working at 3 local care homes in Clinical Service Manager and HM roles.

I pride myself on achieving and maintaining high ratings with the CQC at all the homes I have worked at. Ensuring the consistent provision of the highest quality care and support possible to residents, staff and relatives is my priority.

It is a privilege to be a part of the Harbour Residential team and I very much look forward to meeting you all.

We drew Jerry the bunny this week and Roy met a new addition to his family.
We have been out a lot this week. Tea and cake in the garden with Betty's great ganddaughter, what a combination to enjoy in the spring sunshine!
When Viv, our favourite signer comes to town, there is plenty of interest. Singalongs and even a spot of dancing.
We have been busy crafting some Easter Bonnets for our bunnies. Promise we will show you the pictures of them soon.
Sunday morning and it's time for a gentle work out to start the day. What better than a little dancing to get the day underway.
Last few days we have coloured in spring flowers but also planted spring flowers. Oh and we played a little 'name that tune' too.
On saturday it was Roy's 95th birthday and apart from a spot of dominoes and a nice cake, we also made it down to the excellent The Possett Cup in Portishead Wetherspoons Fans. Great to see so many of our residents getting out to this nice communal pub with its big windows and airy feel. Our residents loved it. Happy birthday Roy! #portishead
Mary enjoyed her trip to Greggs yesterday for a cup of tea and a custard slice.
Audrey has been busy helping us pot up some seeds for the season. Thank you Audrey. And word has it that this little chap Jerry, along with his friend and accomplice Tom, made a quick dash for freedom the other day but where quickly 'persuaded' back into the home. Anyway, he looks happy enough now.
Sue has been testing our new garden benches in the spring sunshine. Lovely.
Someone brought in a friendly parrot today called Rex but poor the bird was so traumatised he didn't manage a word. Such a beautiful looking bird. We enjoyed meeting you Rex.
Sometimes words dont come close. Here is Margaret receiving her heartfelt messages of love from the other side of the world on this, her 90th birthday.
Over the weekend Margaret celebrtaed her 90th birthday with a visit from friends and family. Her Australian son, Ian and his family have just sent her a recorded message which we are hoping to watch today. Happy birthday Margaret from all of us too.
Saturday morning and our crack puzzle team lay waste to yet another jig-saw.
Harbour had a great afternoon with entertainer extraordinaire Magic 'Disco' Steve who kept us royally entertained. Thanks #steviewander for a cracking afternoon. Special mention to birthday girl Susan at 77 years young and Derek who won the quiz.

Last few days we have been enjoying some ol blues eyes, more Bunny love and giving our brains a bit of a work out with some Tri-ominos. Most importantly of all though we had the pleasure of celebrating a wonderful 70th wedding anniversery with Michael and June. Thank you both for brightening our day immeasurably.

Harbour's newest residents Tom and Jerry arrived this morning, kindly donated to the home by our lovely family member and volunteer Sharon Barnett. Initial reactions from staff and residents seem quite positive to say the least! More to follow as our furry friends bed into Harbour home life and their new hutch. Me thinks that these two bunnies are going to be very popular! A wonderful moment of pure, unrefined joy.

Today we invaded Starbucks at the M5 Gordano Service Station. As special guests we were shown a wonderful time by the staff there. Laughter and great chats were had by our generous volunteers, residents and staff. Starbucks staff even managed to host a quizz. We were treated to as much tea and cake as we could manage, which was quite a lot and for this we are most grateful. Thank you so much Starbucks, our residents really enjoy getting out and having some fun.
