Weekly Update – w/c 4th May

Amidst increased risks posed by coronavirus, we are committed to ensuring that we continue to deliver the highest quality of care for our residents in a safe and sterile environment.

Our wonderful staff member Lisa Carrington continued to decorate our windows with spectacular works of art this week. We cannot thank her enough for bringing such joy to us all here at Sandiacre – her drawings are truly sensational!

Our Home Manager, Kirsty Carter, kindly arranged a surprise performance for our staff from Andy Quinn outside our home. The entertainment certainly brightened all our spirits.

To mark VE Day, our residents enjoyed a live performance of popular songs from the era in the sunshine. Vera Lynn classics went down a treat!

One of our residents Kathleen Clarke has a very personal connection to this commemoration. Kathleen joined the Land Army at the age of 19, making the courageous decision to apply as soon as she heard that the Government was recruiting. Although this was a very difficult time for Kathleen, she would often speak of her fonder memories, including dances with the American troops. Her Land Army Belt has recently come to the attention of her family, who would love to know more about what the badges represent. If anyone is able to provide any information, please do get in touch with us.
